Windermere Community Resources
Welcome to Windermere
Windermere is a beautiful and affluent town located southwest of Orlando in Central Florida. The city is situated on a slight stretch of land nestled between Lake Butler, Lake Down, and Lake Bessie. Most of the area consists of waterfront property, offering an island feel for anyone who calls Windermere home.
The area has become known for its famous residents, with many celebrities choosing to live there over the years. Famous athletes like Tiger Woods and Shaquille O’Neill, musicians like Joey Fatone from NSYNC, and actors like Morgan Freeman and Wesley Snipes all have lived in the Windermere area at some point.
However, you don’t need to be a celebrity to live in Windermere. You can enjoy living on the beautiful Butler Chain of Lakes, in a private community, with easy access to all of what makes Central Florida and the Orlando area so exciting.
Schools
Schools help to shape the future of the world. It’s where teachers pave the way for our children, where children forge lifelong friendships, and where they are given the tools that will enable them to succeed in the future.
Windermere public schools are part of the Orange County School District, the 9th largest school district in the nation and the 4th largest in the state of Florida. And the schools located here are some of the best in the entire district. Windermere Elementary School, Lake Whitney Elementary, Keene’s Crossing Elementary, and Bay Lake Elementary are all consistently graded as A schools by the Florida Department of Education. And there are several private and charter schools available to Windermere residents as well, such as Windermere Preparatory School.
