Consider moving to Fayetteville, Arkansas!

Considering a big move but don’t know where you want to go? Look no further than Fayetteville, Arkansas!

Whether you’re moving for business or pleasure, Fayetteville has everything you’re looking for, all in one city. Sports fan? No problem. Catch a game at the University of Arkansas. Love the outdoors? The Ozark mountains are right next door! Interested in family-friendly events? Got ya covered with some of the most revered events in the country.

Settle in and discover the top reasons that moving to Fayetteville, Arkansas may be the best decision you’ve ever made.

Cost of Living

When you’re shopping for the best cities to live in, you want to make sure you’re getting the best bang for your buck.

Fayetteville’s cost of living is about 10% lower than Orlando’s and about 20% lower than the national average. That’s not too shabby. To put that into perspective, you could go from making $73,000 in Orlando to $64,000 in Fayetteville without having to change your lifestyle too much.

I don’t know about you but if I can keep my current income but lower my cost of living by that much I’m all for moving!

Unlike Florida, Arkansas does have a state income tax, so make sure you factor that in when you’re negotiating your salary.

Get Back to Nature

Living in a mountainous city can be breathtaking. Much of the country may take it for granted but—compared to flat, humid Florida—mountains are the ultimate “wow” factor.

When it comes to gorgeous views and outdoor activities, Fayetteville, Arkansas is chock-full of beauty. A local favorite is the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks. They have several themed gardens (think Japanese Gardens, Rose Gardens, and a Children’s Garden…just to name a few) laid out over 40 acres of learning annexes, trails, children’s activities, and butterfly houses. The botanical garden also has several events per month: from yoga classes to food festivals.

Or maybe you prefer your nature a little more…wild. No problem. Fayetteville is nestled in the scenic Ozark Mountains, so the area is full of trails and parks to enjoy at your leisure. Whether you want to take your dog on a walk, bring the kids, or train for a more challenging climb, this is the perfect way to explore nature at your own pace.

Things To Do

In addition to being an upwardly trending city, Fayetteville, Arkansas strikes the perfect balance between old and new.

If you love a city with a classic “old town” appeal, Fayetteville will feel like home to any Southerner’s heart. Though it may be a busy college town, it has a population of only 85,000 people. One of our favorite gems is that they still have a drive-in theater!

Another fun family event is the Bikes, Blues, and BBQ rally. This 4-day event is full of delicious food, live concerts, and—of course—motorcycles!

But don’t forget, the University of Arkansas makes Fayetteville a full-fledged college town, so there are plenty of things for a younger crowd, too. Swing by the eclectic Grub’s Bar for lunch, dinner, or a weekend brunch to nurse your…uh…late night study sessions. For the artists, there’s the ArtVenture art gallery. They operate under an ‘Art for Everyone’ regime and regularly pay tribute to the beauty of diversity.

Weather

Last but certainly not least (it’s our favorite reason) is the weather.

Living in the mountains isn’t just beautiful, it’s insanely comfortable. Not only will you get to experience all four seasons, the average summer high is 75°! Of course, that is just the average; it can get as high as 89° and as low as 65°, but it’s still much better than the 98° temps here in Orlando.

And with cool temperatures in spring and fall and around 36° in the winter, their cold weather really isn’t that extreme. The average snowfall is only about seven inches. (Compare that with an average of 28 inches around the U.S. and it’s not that much.)

Conclusion

When you put it all together, Fayetteville, Arkansas sounds like the perfect place to live. But you don’t have to take our word for it.

U.S. News recently rated it #4 on their list of 25 Best Places to Live in the United States. It’s low cost of living paired with decent household incomes and continued population growth makes this a great city to move to.
